Abstract:

Rubber is a commodity that plays an important role in the Indonesian economy. Indonesia is one of the largest producing countries of natural rubber in the world. From 2000 to 2022, the export volume of natural rubber in North Sumatra experienced fluctuations, which was not in line with the increasing world’s consumption of natural rubber. The export volume of natural rubber in North Sumatra is highly dependent on fluctuations in economic conditions, such as the price of natural rubber, the rupiah exchange rate, and inflation. This research aims to analyze the determinants of natural rubber exports in North Sumatra. This research uses secondary data from the period 1989- 2022. Data were analyzed using a multiple linear regression model with the Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method to examine the determinants of natural rubber exports in North Sumatra. The research results show that all independent variables, namely the price of natural rubber, the rupiah exchange rate, and inflation, simultaneously or partially have a significant influence on the export volume of natural rubber in North Sumatra at a confidence level of 95 percent.
